COA Health Clinics, Recreation & Wellness Programs
Because active adults are healthier adults, the Mansfield Council On Aging has designed an array of programs to encourage seniors to engage in stimulating, enriching and healthy activities. COA social and wellness programs are regularly scheduled and are available to all Mansfield seniors. Activities are developed to address varying levels of need, and beginners are always welcome.

COA HEALTH CLINICS
With a strong commitment toward offering low cost and free health services, the COA sponsors health clinics at the Drop In Center, as well as at other locations within Mansfield.

Health clinics include:
• Podiatry
• Blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar
• Bone density
• Flu and other immunizations
• Health issues workshop series
• Audiology

COA RECREATION & WELLNESS
Wii Bowling
This FREE virtual bowling league is offered two times per week, and competes with other locals COA Wii bowling leagues. Wii Bowling is fun and includes seniors of differing abilities

Daily Cards and Board Gamesdaily games and cards
The Council On Aging encourages seniors to socialize daily with others in our informal and friendly atmosphere. Light refreshments are always available.

Painting Class
Instructed by a commercial artist, students work in pastels, oils, charcoal, pen and ink or water color. Beginners through expert are welcome in this class. A $3 per person per class donation for residents, $5 for non-residents, is appreciated.

Silver Songbirds Silver Songbirds Chorus
Seniors are invited to come together twice a month to sing popular selections and old time favorites. Silver Songbirds offers performances at the COA, nursing homes and assisted living centers.

Silver Chimers Handchime Choir
The Silver Chimers meets weekly with director Mary Hourigan to play selections for handchimes. Like handbells, handchimes are hand held, single note percussion instruments. The Silver Chimers hold performances at the COA, area nursing homes, churches and assisted living centers. This activity welcomes beginners and those who have never played a musical instrument before.

Quilting
The COA Quilting Class meets weekly for creative group or individual quilting projects. Quilts are donated to area non-profit agencies and wounded and disabled soldiers. Beginners are welcome in this activity.

Linedancing
This weekly class gives seniors who like music and movement a fun and social activity. Led by a Linedancing caller, this class offers a light physical work-out. A $1 per person per class donation is appreciated.

Computer Instruction
Geared for those who are just beginning their basic journey into the world of computers and the internet, this class is available to seniors age 60 and older. Students learn how to navigate through Windows and beyond with browsing the internet. Class donation is $3 per person for residents and $5 per person for non-residents.

DIC Bingo
Weekly Bingo Games are sponsored by the Friends of the Drop In Center. Fees apply.

SOCIAL & EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
Educational Health and Wellness Workshops
Monthly workshops focus on aging well, and address issues of concern to seniors. These workshops are free and offer seniors the opportunity to network with professionals and other seniors.

Bi-monthly Town Manager Coffee Hour
Seniors are invited to meet with William Ross, Town Mgr, in an informal and stimulating environment. Seniors are encouraged to bring their concerns or comments. Refreshments are served.

Morning Melodies
A joint program with the Mansfield Schools, Morning Melodies offers seniors the opportunity to be entertained by school children of all ages. Refreshments are served.

Luncheon Programs
Lunch and entertainment programs are offered monthly from September through May. Fee varies depending upon the event.

Shopping
The COA offers weekly shopping trips to three grocery stores, and monthly trips to Emerald Square Mall, Mansfield Crossing and one other shopping plaza. Round trip fares are $2 with a punch ticket, or $2.50 cash, for the grocery store and Mansfield Crossing, and $5 to the Emerald Square Mall and the other shopping plaza. return to menu
